FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
About Carolyn
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been working in various aspects of the mental health field for nearly 20 years. One of my greatest joys has been founding the psychotherapy practice from which The Alliance Center has been built.
I would describe myself as a Social worker by trade and by heart. Not only am I considerate of one’s individual suffering but also the system and structures that serve to maintain in. I firmly believe that taking care of yourself and living a fulfilling life is a birthright that’s accessible to every person, regardless of their circumstances. I’m an avid reader and a lifelong learner so I gather inspiration from many sources and I’m continually bringing in new tools to best serve my clients.
CORE VALUES
Honesty, Trust, Community, Integrity, & Love
What is it like to work with me?
I take a holistic approach to providing therapy. There is no single modality that I use in treatment but instead I rely on a combination of strategies that are evidence-based, to heal the mind, body, and/or spirit. I commonly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in conjunction with Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction to help bring understanding to one’s experience, the underlying thoughts and feelings that support them and the development of effective coping strategies.
Why this work?
After the birth of my first child I quickly realized the lack of support and specialized care for new mothers and families during the most vulnerable and isolating time of their lives.
I made it my mission to become better informed over the years and I have become deeply passionate about supporting women through the pivotal transitions of the reproductive years.
